syllabus for 2nd Semester, Spring 2006

Tentative Syllabus

Welcome back! Students!

As i read your assignment on magazine production last semester, i'm deeply impressed with your talent and input in improving your language and cultural competence.

Here is my menu for both you and me. We are going to complete three things in this semester:
a) a brief yet thorough review on the first documentary radio drama, Penalty of Piety: Benedictine Beginning of Fu Jen Catholic University in Beijing, depicting the early historical contextlualization of the university.

b) group presentations on
different sections on media production, distribution and strategies.
Borrowing examples from Worldbizwatch ( http://www.worldbizwatch.com), each group is going to produce a briefing for a media-related institution with 3 integrated formats: website (digital layout), life history (SOWT and new perspective), ppt files.

c) personal project: 3 clips and a make-up interview
based upon material you collected, write an interview (you should focus on one media celebrity, industrial mogul, a media CEO, ....) which you cover for an esteemed media. You can also produce a live (TV) interview, or present a proposal (for a PR promo).
** radio drama? introducing your dept and school. plus personal intro.?

d) attend an english drama presentation and write a drama review.


Other suggestions are welcome.
